Today I went to visit the skate park and it was packed with skateboarders young
and old. I estimate at least 60 skateboarders and a few bikers having a blast in
the final week of summer break. My only concern is the safety of the skaters
without the helmets. Joe

Eddie Battista, 14, jumps the stairs at the new skate park at Dana Park, which opened on Tuesday. Most skaters and bikers ignored rules requiring them to use safety equipment, but they could face tickets if they continue to do so. A first-offense ticket would be for $25.
