Letter to Councilman Joe Gomez Councilman Joe Gomez, we the members of the Barstow Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy would like to take this time to say thank you for taking out time from your business schedule to come speak with us, here at the Bighorn Youth Center on Fiesta Fridays. We appreciate all that you do for us. You have shown us that it is possible to advance forward with your lives. You were once a resident here in Bighorn. You are a Barstow City Council Member, and now you are in the race for Mayor. Your accomplishments are an eye opener for the youths here in the Bighorn Projects or should I say "Project Bighorn" Plesae accept this certificate and thsi gift(a model of a hummer) as a token of our appreciation for all the nice things you have done for us. You are an inspiration. Thank you, The Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy.
Every other Friday I visit the Bighorn projects, a Housing Authority where I once lived while attending high school. The center is located at 921 Bighorn Dr., Barstow ,Ca. I along with CEO Terrance Stone of Young Visionaries spend time with the youth in the area. We call it Councilman Joe Gomez Fiesta Friday. Pizza, spaghetti, tacos are a few of the dishes I provide to a group of 20-30 children. My objective with the youth is to encourage and motivate them to set goals, keep away from gangs. I am turning Bighorn Projects in to Project Bighorn. I often invite role models in the community to speak and encourage my young friends. JOE
