Aztec, Hawks dominate DSL cross country finals Both teams defend DSL titles from a year ago By C.J. DAFT Staff Writer VICTORVILLE — The Barstow boys cross country team’s depth continued to shine at Thursday’s Desert Sky League finals. The Aztecs, the fifth-ranked California boys team, placed six runners in the top eight at the league finals and cruised to an easy 19-49 win over second-place Granite Hills. Anthony Solis, Barstow’s No. 1 runner, won the race in 15 minutes, 25 seconds. He was followed across the finish line by teammates Isaac Chavez (15:35) and Andrew Romano (15:45). The Aztecs’ top six were only broken up by Granite Hills’ Nick Kelley in fourth and teammate Chris Rivera in fifth. “That’s how we are every race,” said Solis, who was third at last year’s meet. “All three of us are together and everybody else gets closer and closer.” (rest of story)
