We have to be proud of the effort of WBLL's accomplishment. I had the opportunity to see 2 of the games in Murrieta. These 13 and 14 yearolds have alot of heart and never gave up through out the tournament. Congratulations! The West Barstow Junior Division All-Stars said good-bye to Murrieta and the 2007 season Tuesday evening. West Barstow fell 6-1 to the Carmel Mountain Ranch All-Stars to be eliminated from the California Little League Division III Tournament in Murrieta on Tuesday. The loss was their second of the tournament and second to Carmel Mountain. Carmel Mountain mercied West Barstow 13-2 in six innings on Saturday to knock them into the consolation bracket of the tournament. Carmel Mountain came out quick on Tuesday earning three runs in the first inning. They then held West Barstow to a single run while picking up three more over the final three innings. Barstow’s Eddie Urtiaga started the game on the mound and was relieved in the fifth inning by Thomas McCarty. West Barstow had a long road to earn the rematch with Carmel Mountain, they played four games in four days during the tournament. West Barstow picked up an 11-7 win over the East Lake All-Stars on Sunday and a 7-4 win against Newmark on Monday. “I’m proud of them,” Former West Barstow Little League President Jim McCall said. “To get four games into the state tournament is an accomplishment and something to be proud of.” For more content on West Barstow’s post season run, check out the Desert Dispatch sports blog at http://barstowsports.freedomblogging.com/
