For nearly 10 years Domingo Gonzales, a Barstow City employee, has been in pursuit of a skate park. He has spent years exchanging ideas with the local skaters and promoting the idea of a skate park.With the guidance of Jeanette Hayhurst all the hard work has finally paid off. This summer, hopefully in July, cause my grandkids keep asking and I'll be in big trouble if delayed, the City of Barstow will open a 12,000 sq. ft. skate park adjacent to the Al Vigil Swimming Pool.The proposed groundbreaking will be towards the end of April. What is great about this project is the youth of this community will not be charged a fee, yes it is free!This is the first step the City Council is taking to provide additional activities for the Youth of our community.
